Dear 2020,
As I start this letter, so many thoughts, emotions and pictures come to mind. The uncertainty and weariness on one hand and the contentment and joy on the other.
You were a very weird year.
There were parts of you that I hated, but also parts of you that I loved.
If I were to pick one emotion to describe you, believe it or not, I would pick gratitude. I am so grateful I got to live you, 2020. Really and truly.
Despite the shutdown, masks and corruption, you were a pretty good year for me. I actually accomplished and learned more than I thought.
I learned that despite scary circumstances, one can still have loads of peace.
I learned that even when depression hits you over the head, it doesn't define you. In fact, you are able to rise even higher once it has vanished.
I learned to be grateful for all the small things I generally took for granted.
I learned that love and trust are two very important qualities for a believer to have right now. Love for others and trust in God.
And I learned to say yes to the things and opportunities that scared me.
Yes, 2020, you really weren't so bad.
Thank you for the rest, the curve balls, the joys and the sorrows. You've been a good year to me. Jesus redeemed all the horrible and always held me in the palm of His hand.
It was nice knowing you while it lasted, 2020. So long.
Love,
Holly
