Top Favorites of 2020

Most people know of only two view when it comes to the glass cup: it is either half full or half empty.

However, there is a third view I was recently introduced to thanks to Bob Goff. It is the perspective of gratitude that there is even anything in the cup to begin with.

You see, we can view life through pessimistic or optimistic eyes. Or, we can choose to be grateful for the life we've been gifted and all the sorrows and joys that come with it.

That is how I chose to live the last few weeks of 2020; grateful that I got to live another year of life and that it was actually pretty cool!

Today I want to share some of my top favorite books, movie and music that made 2020 not so bad.

Books

Love Does by Bob Goff - The book that rocked my world and taught me a whole new view on love

Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon - The book that inspired me to be creative on a top notch level.

The Enchanted Sonata by Heather Dixon Wallwork - An enchantingly beautiful nutcracker retelling that was an amazing read.

Dust by Kara Swanson - A novel about light vs. shadows. With a little bit of pixie dust and a whole lot of good theme, it was a good read.

A Wish in the Dark by Christina Soontornvat - Another light vs. darkness novel, this book was very creative and unique. World-building was incredible!

Movies and Shows

The Chosen tv series - An excellent series about the life of Jesus told in a way like never before! Definitely binge watched this one quite a bit and eagerly awaiting season 2 to come out this Spring!

How to Train Your Dragon 1, 2 & 3 - All of these movies were well written and crafted. Plus the animation in 2 and 3 is beautiful! It was nice to have a tales of bravery, hardship and victory to watch.

This Beautiful Fantastic - I've come to love this sweet movie! The characters are captivating and so beautifully diverse. Plus, the movie had a very literary feel that I just loved!

Sue Thomas FBEye tv series - 2020 was year for all things espionage, FBI, CIA etc. for me! I may or may not have read a ton of books about spy schools, interesting cases and missions gone wrong. ;) Sue has been a fun and exciting one to watch.

Music

It's hard to find top favorites in music because I love so many songs!

How To Train Your Dragon soundtracks - The music is phenomenal! (Count me a new big fan, John Powell!) My favorite songs are This is Berk, Dragon Racing, Coming Around, Stoic's Ship and Where No One Goes.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Narnia soundtracks - More amazingly orchestrated music! My favorite song of the bunch is Only the Beginning of an Adventure.

Dreamers by Clay Hider - This song just has good flow and joy.

Almost There by Amy Grant & Michael W. Smith - My new favorite Christmas song!

Silhouette by Owl City - Spoke to me some of the darker moments of 2020.
